Helloooo!  not posted in here or a long time, however thought this might be of interest to UK based owners...

If you havent come across Clive before, he was involved with the original Speed Triple challenge riding and running the Jack Lilley racing team... he also raced the black and orange 'Tiger' which has been pictured in here before...   anyway, I attended one of his T3 training days back in December, which was quite well timed as i was about to pull the head off of my Thunderbird Sport  :icon_biggrin:  Clive is the font of all knowledge on the early T300 series bikes and runs through removing and refitting the head, splitting the cases for a sprag change, carbs, brakes and anything that anyone wants to cover. Normally its mostly on the Saturday (followed by beer in the evening!) , but he is happy to continue on the 2nd day if people want to cover more..

The next course is 28th Feb. Clive is now based in Swineshead Lincolnshire and can probably sort a couple of B&B rooms for people travelling a distance.  Its £75 for the course (including lunch)...   he's had a couple of cancellations for the February course which is why i thourght i'd mention it here.

He also does servicing, ECU re-mapping, race prepping etc.. he's very clued up on the later fuel injection bikes as well, I'll be taking my 800 over to him at some point for a tweek..

That's interesting. I know from the same sort of thing with Landies that you can pick up a lot of stuff you will never find in books from these guys.
I used to have long hair, took acid and went to hip joints. Now I long for hair, take antacid and need a new hip joint

Bugger, would have liked to go to that but I'm at the NEC

yes Sin, lots of tips and you cant beat being shown something IMHO...  Clives more than happy to share his experience of the early bikes as his bread and butter these days are the  later models, he's really knowledgable on the EFI stuff.. He said himself that even at his labour rates which are nowhere near those of dealers, any major work on the early bikes can quickly become unviable from a financial perspective...  he also made the point that with the bikes being 20+ years old there is some dilution of knowledge within the main dealers regarding them (thats the polite version!) and even the factory itself..

John.. he tries to run the courses 2 or 3 times a year depending on demand, normally outside of the riding season... i'll post details of the next one, although i'm sure if he could get half a dozen firm bookings he'd run a course on a conveient date..

I spoke to him by phone several months ago. Very helpful, enthusiastic guy. He give me some advice regarding the 'negative' clearances I've got on a few of the inlet valves on my Super3.

Next course is April 11th/12th.
This will be the last till next winter as service work is now getting busy for Clive. Btw it covers steamers too and engine is aplicable to Girly's as the internals are almost identical.

Why does he always pick times I'm away doing other stuff, oh well please keep us posted for next winters courses.
