Had a Lithium on my XT for 3 years and it's been really good the plan was to fit one on the Tiger when the current one went belly up lithium appeared out of the blue!! Fitted it yesterday.

All the batteries that I have had on before when they have been on an Optimate and fully charged on the the old tiger turned over like a good'un but when normal service Is resumed and the charge just drops a fraction always had that millisecond were it hesitates before spinning up,put the lithium on and it turns it over really well will be interested to see if it stays that way.

I'm sure I've read others have them how old are yours?,the one on the XT is 3 years old Christmas I've had it on the charger once just see how a lithium charger works but apart from that even stood during the winter and been good.

They are useless in the heat and cold.  I need to replace mine in the winter if I want to use my bike.

Your right, but it tells you that in the small print although I have say it's been pretty dam warm here recently and both bikes have worked fine as for cold that's what my car is for  :icon_lol:,although in fairness the one on my SM has been good no matter what.

Mine went into "safe mode" (meaning useless) after getting caught in traffic for 15 minutes on a 95 degree day.  It also won't start it reliably below 40 degrees.  It is nothing more than some very expensive used toilet paper.

This is where things get complicated because this side of the pond the reason why we ride bikes is not to get stuck in traffic that's not a tongue in cheek quip its a fact we filter and if we couldn't I and a lot of others wouldn't ride a bike.

The cold bit your probably right but as my Tiger has never seen a winters day in 40,000 miles and not likely too not something that comes into the equation but I can imagine it would for those that ride year round, thanks heavens for global warming  :icon_big-grin

I'm not 100% convinced but I'm certainly getting there, and the only options we get are the Chinese variety what make battery did you have?

benebob

It is badged Western Powersports (big bike parts supplier in the states).  It is simply a useless battery.  I put the old lead acid battery from my 885i in for the winter and that battery is now 9 years old.  Will never buy another Lithium battery.  Pure junk.

This thing with the cold was my biggest concern when I was buying mine yesterday, but in the UK sub-zero temps rarely last for long, and anyway Ive already thought about it. If we are heading for a prolonged cold spell, I'll just take it off and stick it on the book-case in doors, its so small and light dont think the missus will even notice it :icon_lol:
