Title: Fuel Pressure Regulator Hose
Post by: dino1 on May 25, 2015, 10:22:43 PM
Could some kind soul tell  me where the fuel pressure regulator connects to. My tiger is a project and I'm trying to put it all back together. TIA

Nowhere. Earlier bikes had a hose attached; later ones did away with it. All it does is sense atmospheric pressure.

Are we talking about the same part. This part is on the fuel pump flange with the quick disconnects.

That's what I'm talking about.

Circled in red here. Note this is an early one with the pipe attached.

That's it. So the hose wraps around the tank and terminates? Seems like it would need engine vacuum to gauge the amount of fuel. Odd.

Lots of odd things on these bikes, get used to it part of the charm.

No it doesn't It just uses atmospheric pressure as a comparator to "decide" when to bleed off excess pressure in the fuel lines. It has nothing at all to do with intake depression. And it doesn't need to be particularly sensitive.

As I said, later bikes did away with the hose and I took the one off my 2004 bike with no ill effects.

This question is a bit like the other one people ask now and then which is which way round do the fuel lines connect from the tank to the fuel rail, answer is whichever way they fit best, the fuel rail is just a tube, which end it fills from doesn't seem to make any difference............at least on mine  :icon_rolleyes:
