Thanks for those neil, that's the first proper phots I've seen, sorry to say I don't like it, they seem to have followed everyone else with that daft edge styling. Yuck!

no no no no no, this bike is cool!!!, when the steamer first came out, it met with the same response, so im looking at this from a modern view point. there really is'nt a lot to the look that has'nt been seen with all the new models on the market, BUT, what it does have is a triple, and the unknown. how will it ride with a regular person on it and not a factory rider,and how will the power feel on and off road,etc... look, it's a lot like my steamer. when it first came to the state's people were like WTF is that. then they rode it, and eighteeeeeeeeen (18)years later were haveing a discusion on what we like and dont like like about it - AND THAT'S AWSOME. that means it worked, and i think this will work just as well. i'm on board and cant wait to ride it. 8)
Sorry I'm not convinced. It may grow on me but not to the point that I'd buy one. I carn't put my finger on just what it is but something's not right with it.

Just bought a Kawasaki ZRX 1200 will part with it in the Spring after I rebuild My tigers Head.
Nope I'm not keen either, mind I don't like any of the new "Insect" design bikes, I think they all look hopeless. Sorry keeping the Girly, but then I would be keeping that anyway, too many good times. 8)

I am concerned mainly on how it handles, feel and durability of the components and will this be a one off model for Triumph with low sales so you can't get parts say five to seven years down the road. One other thing hopefully free of Frigin Recalls.
I hope it kicks ass and has tons of pull up the Ying Yang and built like it was meant to be abused by people who love adventure riding, I would love to see this company expand in the states I was hoping to see a center stand Lol.
My poor 98 sits covered on the Porch waiting to get parts to rebuild the head, my Kawasaki ZRX is fun but not as adventurous as My Tiger, I am a tall guy the ZRX is for short folks on the Street so when spring comes I am selling the ZRX and checking into the T-Cub.
The Roadie reminded me like the new trucks today, doesn't feel right or look like it should be off the road or in the dirt sort of like I am going to take a $250.000 Land Rover with power everything, DVD theater system, climate control and pound the crap out of it on a ten month Safari in the Heart of Africa. how would that turn out?

No you´re not. I´m not to keen on this bike either at this stage. I think this kind of BMW Lego-bike design looks too fragile. It looks like one of my son´s Star Wars Lego battle ships.
But maybe it´s just that the clean KTM look has grown on me (as it has on my bike, literally...:)). Time will see.
And I´m looking eagerly forward to the handling reviews of the offroad version.
I think the looks will grow on you over time. Its ok but not great. I do like the engine. My son has a Daytona 675, some call it God's own engine. It is awesome and is scaled up for this bike. This alone could make the bike a winner. I am not ready to sell my Steamer just yet.

One low milage Street Triple with all the bits FOR SALE ... this looks like even more fun :D
It looks really great on the MCN video. But after a while I thought, just another bike. Triumph has their hands on a truly original engine concept. The triples deliver smooth power with a high torque. I like them better than the stompers or twins. The one thing I miss is the low center of gravity found in beemers with boxer twins.
However, what will be new in the Tiger 800? Isn't it just another designed hype? We have been teased for a long time and maybe this is just a cover for the lack of ingenuity. Triumph wants to sell bikes and make money, maybe there is no need to reinvent the wheel. The ADV bikes are good sellers perhaps thanks to BMW GS. I want to see the following to be impressed: An extremely low fuel consumption, even lower than in the GS800, that would have to be around 4 litres per 100 km.
Serviceability like what is seen in the new Tenere 1200 where the tank is easily tilted to access the air filters. Weather protection that at least equals the 1150 and 1200 GS because these bikes supposed to be used for long trips (+600 km per day).
Strangely the Steamer still competes pretty well due to it's engine (not taking the sprag issue into account), but of course, the serviceability is a joke, and that is what bothers me. If the designers had taken one week more thought into the design, no doubt the Steamer could have be an adventure classic like the Honda Africa Twin 750. I hope that the new 800 is designed for ADV usage with long distance trips in mind. My point is this, to design a bike to be easily served (and repaired) is not Triumph's tradition, and I have my doubts when it comes to this new Tiger. Can it go the Long Way Round?

Two days later I had to go to the UK for a week.... :( ... a whole week with out my Tigger!!!
A very VERY hard time indeed....
But once back I got word that the accessories were coming in and so it was arranged to make the first service and get them installed:
The ONLY issuse I had for the service was a slight oil 'drip' from the lower casing side plug - a little sealant and that was solved!
