Title: Puig Touring Windscreen
Post by: benebob on January 01, 2017, 02:46:16 AM
Not exactly happy with the stock screen.  Looking at replacing it with the Puig Touring (always liked the MRA Vario on the Girly but think the MRA for the 800 looks kind of clunky.  Anybody have it?  Thinking dark smoke to blend in with the black bike.  Also, what are the options for summer sport screens?  I see a couple but honestly would prefer one that is black or can be painted rather than a clear.

You could use some stick on tint or even just paint it. I've a Wunderlich Vario that I'm very impressed with, has a great range of adjustment, the only thing that worries me is that it's a little too easy to remove :icon_scratch:

did you just get the vario part and put it on the stock?

It's just an add on, you don't need to drill your screen which also means you can swap it onto another bike. Downside as I say is that it isn't as secure, I have considered replacing the slotted clamp screws with security head spline screws but usually just remove it if it's not going to be visible for any length of time.

US distributor explains the range of model options but is a bit wordy without really explaining how it fits or works.

Makers German language video is better for demonstrating the functionality.

There are other similar items a bit cheaper but I'm not sure if they'd have the same adjustment range or if they're decent quality, I know the Wunderlich one works.

Yeah, that concerns me on some of my offroading.  Ordered a light smoke puig today.  Wanted the dark smoke but everyone I asked tought I shouldn't ride on the wall of death one more time without being able to see.  :)

The puig is pretty nice.  A bit more flexible at speed then I would prefer but It should do the job nicely and looks pretty good on there esp. with the beak that I added.

Glad you found something that did the job for you. Any chance you could do a write up in Toys and Farkles worth a couple of pics once you've got used to it  :thumbsup

Once I get all farkled up I will.  Still waiting on my bar risers from China, the jack up dog bones from England and now the new swingarm from 30 miles away (seems Fed Ex lost it so I think the other stuff may be here first).  :)
